my question today is: How can I translate german conjunctions? I will make an example:
The object where my head is laying on, is a pillow.
In German it should mean: Das Objekt, AUFDEM mein Kopf liegt, ist ein Kissen.

Do you understand my problem?

And how can I translate the follow sentence:
Ich suche schon den ganzen Tag, allerdings ohne Erfolg.

On the grammar section I saw (btw, is it better to say saw (simple past) or to say have seen(present perfect)?) a third example:
7. Meine Mutter ist damit beschäftigt, das Abendessen vorzubereiten.
My mother is busy preparing the evening meal.

The most difficult conjunctions saying in English are sentence with "indem".

An example sentence could be the following complex sentence:

Ich nahm anschwungen, indem ich mein Beine nach vorne schwung und die Arme austreckte, damit ich genug Schwung für den Absprung habe. (ne SchaukelxD)

A futher question that I have is when is the ing-form used? Sometimes you might hear it out of feeling of language, but is there a rule? I thought it is the progressive.

The most difficult conjunction in English sentences is "indem".

Most of the times it's "by" I believe.

Why don't you try it? Tip from me, start the sentence with "damit" and take the advice from tiothan, we can take a look at it then and correct you.
