Sometimes I wonder why German are more friendly and loyal to Austrians than the other way round.
Today I talked with a friend of mine and she said that they they are unbearable when they've won a match.
She really hoped that England would win and that the German would have to go home. I think of course there's this referee-thing, but I think it's nice that the youngest team in this world cup has come so far.
Of course, if the referee Emilio Rosetti (I think that was his name) had seen this (or, more correctly, his assistant, the whole match would had ended not like this.
But I think it's a bad thing that many Austrian don't like the German team, because the German are so snooty when they win. Because I think: We shouldn't wish a team to loose, just because their landsmen are silly when they win.
I mean, we can't judge a team because of their landsmen, can we?
And this match will probably be such a historic match as the match England-Germany in 1966. Oh, dear. I hate it when people are NOW speculating about this goal in 1966. It's more then forty years ago other people played!
Oh, dear.
And what they say.. "
WE WON!", "
WE showed the damn English where to go home!" "Now they got what they earned!"
Strange thing, this patriotism.
Football should connect, Football should be fun. Why are so many things, which were a good idea once, so completely different now?
Sometimes the referees even get murder threats just because of such a decision.
And they curse like.. I don't know.
Did you see the English coach? He cursed like a taxi driver. Well, Löw isn't much better usually.
Thoughtfully,
Ibex
