2.1.4 Material success - conclusion

All in all the salaries in USA are in accordance with the idea of the material success through hard work, if you forget about expensive education, Social Security and U.S health care system.

2.2 The Dream is limited/Immigration

Participation in the American dream is limited to outsiders, so the immigrants need to obtain a green card to embark upon their unique American journeys.
The process of obtaining a green card is designed to register and classify immigrants arriving in the United States. The U.S. uses a quota system to regulate the types of workers and national origins who can legally enter the country each year. The green card is proof that an immigrant has pursued the appropriate legal channels and can protect him from deportation.
If an immigrant gets the green card, he can lawfully live and work permanently in the United States. He can travel abroad for short periods of time and petition for his spouse and unmarried children to also obtain a green card. Immigrants can petition for a green card on the basis that they are qualified to do specific types of work.

Also many immigrants obtain the Residence through marriage with an American citizen. But it is not the best, fastest or easiest way. It takes about seven years to get an American citizenship. The people who had luck having relatives in America can get green card without any problems.

Another possibility to become American citizen is to join the US military. About 8,000 non-U.S. citizens join the military every year. But it is also not easy. The person who wants to become an American citizen must be at least 17 but not over 42 and have a high school diploma.

The last possibility is the “Diversity Immigrant Visa”. It is a lottery program for receiving green card (also known as the Green Card Lottery). Every year, the U.S. government grants 50,000 permanent residence visas to people all around the world through this program. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent or two years work experience within the past five years that requires two additional years of experience or training to perform. The applicant also must be a resident of one of the selected countries or have a parent who is a resident of one of the selected countries. Selected countries can vary from year to year. Finally, applicants would be chosen by a computer-generated random lottery drawing.

1) Da du hier vom Immigranten als geschlechtsneutrale Person schreibst, schreibt man they. Dieser Ausdruck deutet an, dass du dich sowohl aus maennliche als auch auf weibliche Personen beziehst. Due Grammatik muss dementsprechend angeglichen werden.
