Fair trade seeks to give workers in poorer countries a fair share of the profit
from the goods that they produce. Is it important to buy fair trade products?

Nowadays, the Poverty in developing countries like Africa is a widly disussed topic. Not only international Help organisations like UNICEF, but also normal people want to help the poor inhabitats there. Since a few years you have the possibility to buy fair trade products in the supermarket, which garants a fair share of the profit from the goods they produced. But is it reasonable to buy these products?

At first it is to say that it is better to buy fair trade products than discount products, which were produced in the same area or country. Because when you buy the fair trade prduct, the poor workers will get more money. It is possible that the workers won`t earn any money, if you buy the very cheap products.
Moreover buying fair trade products can rescue complete lifes or companies. I saw a TV-documantation about this issue, which showed that many women get the chance to start there own business, which only works, because they import products to Europe and other countries and sell them to a higher price. This products are fair trade products for example.

Furthermore Starbucks, a famous coffee shop chain from America offers special fair trade coffee. While a coffee plant worker earns only a few cent per kilo when he sell normal coffee beans he gets almost the double money for fair trade coffee.

However there are not only positiv aspects. Let`s take a look to the clothing industry. A well known German clothing seller have also fair trade clothing in the collection. In the Advertising you can read things like „100 % fair trade – 100 % handmade“. However handmade means often Childworking! You have to be carful because won`t help anybody if buy clothing or other things which are made by kids.

To sum up, it is important to say that fair trade products offers everyone a good way to help poorer people in other countries. But when you look to the set of problems in a realistic way, the workers who live often under the poverty line and who do the most of the work are don`t get enough money form the profit of fair trade products, too. If you really want to help, the best way is donate your money to a help organisation and buy your food at the regional shop in your town.

Fair trade seeks to give workers in poorer countries a fair share of the profit
from the goods that they produce. Is it important to buy fair trade products?

Nowadays, the poverty in developing countries like many states in Africa is a widely discussed topic.

Not only international aid organisations like UNICEF, but also normal people want to help / support the poor inhabitants there.

For a number of years you have had the possibility to buy so-called fair trade products in the supermarket. TheyThere is no doubt guarantee that the producers of the goods get a fair share of the profit.

But is it reasonable to buy these products?

There is no doubt that buying fair trade products is preferable to choosing discount products, which were produced in the same area or country, since / as the poor workers will earn more money.

If customers in the rich countries only opt for the cheapest products available, the workers might not earn any money at all.

Moreover, buying fair trade products can rescue complete lives or companies.

I saw a TV-documentary about this issue, which showed that many women get the chance to start there own businesses.

This
only works, because they export products to Europe and other countries and sell them at a higher price.

These products are fair trade products for example.

Furthermore, Starbucks - a famous coffee shop chain from America - offers special fair trade coffee.

A coffee plant worker earns only a few cent per kilo when he sells normal coffee beans, whereas he gets almost double the money for fair trade coffee.

There are not, however, only positive aspects to the issue.

Let us consider the clothing industry for example.

A well-known German clothing chain offers fair trade clothing in their collection.

In their adverts you can read things like "100 % fair trade – 100 % handmade".

However, handmade often means child labour!

You have to be careful, because buying clothing or other things made by kids does not help anybody.

To sum up, it is important to say that buying fair trade products offers customers a good opportunity to help poorer people in other countries.

But when you look at the set of problems in a realistic way, those who do the most of the work do not get enough money to make a living from the profit of fair trade products, either.

If you really want to help, the best way is to donate your money to an aid organisation and buy your food at the regional shop in your town.
Soweit so gut. :) Mal sehen, ob ich nicht zu viel übersehen habe.

Insgesamt gefällt mir Dein Essay ganz gut. Ich meine mich aber zu erinnern, dass in der Zusammenfassung keine neuen Gedanken auftauchen sollten, oder? (Ich meine die an sich gute Idee des Spendens).
