I am keen on improving my speaking and writing skills.

Please remember that learning by doing is only one way of learning
and chatting in particular may help you to increase your vocabulary,
but you need to revise the basics of English grammar too!

So may I suggest that you read all the reference material
and exercises on this website:

Please keep trying to remember the rules for using capital letters in English.
I know these are only a few small steps towards using good English,
but you should keep an eye on these small things too...

You may also want to try using a dictionary once in a while.
Don't always use copy and paste from any on-line dictionaries!
Look at it and then try to type it or write it yourself
but you shouldn't forget to verify it afterwards...

I think it's very important to correct each other.
Therefore you should use a chat program or a forum,
where both of you can use colours to point out mistakes.
Then you can more easily realise what your partner has changed
and focus your attention on memorising the highlighted solutions.

It's really hard to unlearn the mistakes you memorized by repeating them without any correction.
Therefore your little study group needs at least one with higher English skills to correct your mistakes
or you will not improve your skills significantly.

Try to integrate good English in your daily life by watching the news or some movies in English,
listening to English radio programs and reading English newspapers (online).
In the beginning some of you may need to use subtitles or transcripts in English (not in German!).

Remember, chatting without someone correcting your mistakes won't help you to improve your skills significantly.
