I want to refresh my english and therefor I read english books, watch english movies. A few weeks ago I bought an english course (I don't know whether that is the right name for that or not. It's a book and 4 CD's to practice english).

Now I've got to continue working. See ya.

I'm also new at this chat and I want to introduce myself.
Well I'm a 21 years old girl from Landshut (Niederbayern) and I just finished school. My english isn't very well at the moment... :(
I'm willing to refresh it an learn much more than at school.
My english mark was 5- in the matriculation...
Now I have decided that I'm going to learn english...that maybe a bit funny for you but better late than never :jo:

I hope you will correct me, if I make bad mistakes...

lol are you kidding ? You really got a 5- ?
I'm asking because your english doesn't sound as bad as you described at first view. Of course I don't know the expectations on the part of the praised Bavarian school system because I don't come from Bavaria but I'm really interested why or rather how you got this mark. Could you tell me anything about the content of your matriculation exam?

hi test,

yes of course. The test for the matriculation includes a summary, text production, translation and questions on the text, too.
Well I really don't know why I got this bad mark...

But it honors me very much that you can't belief it :D

My self-awarness in case of english is very miserable so maybe that's the reason for my worse note...
In this forum I can answer absolutly unforced and nobody has any expectations on me...so perhaps that's why I'm a little bit better than at school...

Where do you come from?

From Germany/Hessen/somewhere between Frankfurt and Gießen

Well, in this case it means that you possess the necessary language ability so that it's rather a mental problem like pressure to perform, isn't it?

Hi at all,
I am 19 years old, I am new here in this forum and I´d like to improve my English. Three month ago I got my certificate of having passed the Abitur at a German grammar school (Gymnasium) and now I am matriculated at the college of higher education in Merseburg (near Leipzig or Berlin) in business studies.

My biggest problem is the following one: When I read English newspaper articles, I have no problem to understand what´s written in the text, mostly. But if I have to write a text, e.g. a comment, I really get problems with my English vocabulary. In nearly every second sentence I have to consider whats this German word in English. In my opinion, the English grammar is easy, but I´d like to write an essay of about 2000 words and I don´t want to look up the dictionary ten times a minute :freu:
Okay, this was my first entry, I´m strained about your answers ;)
bye

Hi!
My name is Simon and I'm almost 17 years old. I like the English language and many peolpe think that I've been raised (up) bilingually. But I haven't.
My English is pretty good, anyway. But sometimes, certain grammatical things are confusing me a bit, though.
I like having contact with others in English, even if they can speak German. By means of this, I can improve my English more and more, which is a good possibility in particular now, that I've finished school and only gonna go to the vocational school once a week.
I want to improve my English because I've always had the dream of moving to England, Ireland, Isle of Man or the USA.
Maybe there's someone, having the same opinion as I do. I would like to make contact with those.

Have a nice day-

Simon.

@friendly2004:

Hi Simon!

I like the English language too, although I'm not so good, or not as good as I want to. My problems are not only tenses but grammar in all.
I also considered about moving to an english country, but I don't feel completely confident so far. That's a BIG step.
You read English books or watch English movies? I do like those (I don't know whether this sentence is correct or not).
By the way, you're pretty young.

Hi!

I'm new here in this forum.
My name is victoria. I'm 15 years old and the reason, why I'm here, is that I want to improve my english. (is this sentences correct?)
Since 4 years I've learned english in my school, but my grades and also my english is very bad. (Perhaps you already noticed it)
I make mistakes in grammar, vocabulary and so on.
Now I want to learn it by doing (it) and I hope that anyone can help me at this.
But I also want to tell something about myself:
I'm going into the 10th class of a grammar school. My hobbies are playing soocer and building forums like this. (My actually forum is this: http://www.fce-portal.de)
I'm also a big FC Energie Cottbus Fan. Do you know about Energie Cottbus? It's a soccer-team in the 2. german soccer-league!
I think I've really told enough about me and my bad english

hope you've a nice evening
bye victoria

Hey! i am very pleased that there is a chance for all people particularly for students to improve their language-level. I will begin to study coming semester and i think i will go in 2-3 years abroad to accumulate experience for the future. Therefore I would like to start to prepare for it. I hope that i will find friends in this forum who could help me. Thanks

Hi,
I'm a new member in this community. So at first I want to introduce myselve to you. My name is Andreas, I'm 19 years from a little town in the beautiful east-bavaria (exactly "oberpfälzer wald").
I've just finished my apprenticeship as a office clerk (bürokaufmann). Before that, I've attended the commercial school (Wirtschaftsschule), which is simular to the middle-school (realschule). And now, I'm a student again. I'm attending the upper-technical-college (berufsoberschule) with the aim, to reach the a-level (abitur).
My English is still not perfect, but that's why I am here. I hope i can improve it and I'm looking forward to have fun and nice discussion with you.
Nice greets
Andreas
PS: The website is very interesting and very useful, not only for me I think

Hi People,

Long time I was searching for a good method to refresh or improve English. I found a great page, they are offering English courses Online and have dictionaries on one mouse click. I am studying with them for 3 month already, you can find them under http://www.cleverlearn.de, it is really cool!!
