Kid A hat geschrieben:you're learning to play the guitar, too? Good God! That sounds like we're sisters or something...unbelievable! That's so great!
Yeah,you're right..that's really great! :D
I started to play the guitar half a year ago..I was lucky, because my father owns a guitar he has never really used. So now I call it 'my guitar'..I teach playing it myself with one of these books.Actually I like that-I can decide what to play, when to practise and nobody cares if I don't practise at all.;-)
If I learned it with a teacher I couldn't try playing chords,probably.Self-teaching I can mix it up-chords and then picking or just chords..or only special training for the fingers.
Fortunately I have played the flute, the piano and the violine before so I don't have to learn about theory anymore.Without that knowledge it would definitely be harder to teach myself.

That sounds very good (  ).
I'm very lucky: My guitar teacher lives only a few meters away from me so I'm able to walk to the lessons. She is a very good teacher, but it took me a long time before I noticed that I could try to play the songs I like, too. Unbelievable, I know, but I've started to learn chords since I listen to Oasis, and that is not that long ago. Maybe two or three years now.
But since then, nobody has been able to stop me from practising. Sometimes my parents must force me to stop, especially when I'm playing late in the evening.
In January 2003, I bought myself an electric guitar (Les Paul Standart, Epiphone). After a few months, I met a man who lives in my village, too. He offered me some electric guitar-lessons, and now I go to him every three weeks (I don't know how to write "alle 3 Wochen").
He's the most amazing guitarist I've ever seen and I'm glad I've met him.
At about 3 months ago, I bought myself a western guitar (Takamine, G-Series). And at the moment, as regards my guitars, I'm the happiest girl on earth. :D
Teachers are not bad, but I can imagine it would be very difficult to find somebody who is honestly interested in what you're learning. Especially in music-schools the teachers are just impatient and not willing to give you the time you need to practise.
I'm incredibly lucky and I know that. If you've got any questions, you can ask me, I'll try to help you.

Oh,you're lucky with your teachers.
I had to go to the next school..one of my friends is there. She has guitar lessons with two other kids, which is guite practical for playing. However, she says they often disturb each other to become better, since there is always somebody who doesn't practise.
We have played the guitar together twice-thatb was good, because she could show me some things and give me pieces to play.

I'm just fighting with these monsters called barrée chords.. You can't pay songs without an F,so I have to beat them! 8)
Nevertheless,I can play Morning Glory for example and the verses of Talk Tonight. It seems to as if Noel is very fond of using E minor and everything in the area of D.

Guitar lessons together with other people must be the worst way of learning, mustn't it? I mean, the only chance these peolpe have is to give it up, and most of them do that, that's the way it is. Before you go to such a lesson, you better try to manage it by yourself.

Morning Glory was the first song I was able to play, and for that moment I was the proudest human in the world! :D But nevertheless I wanted to play "Magic Pie" and so I forced myself to practise barré chords. I don't know why, but my ambition seemed to be very big and sometime I got them. They are the most useful chords you have, and if you're able to play them you won't find a song which is too difficult for you. Barré chords will make your life easier, trust me.

They will make your life worth living!

Proudest man of the world..yeah,I think I'm on my way there, concerning Morning Glory.Another difficult thing to do is strum the right rythm,so as to make it sound..well,good.*g* I can play different rythms, but I have problems mixing it to the singing.
So I practised and I think it's getting better.
It's great, I've never been so ambitious with learning to play an instrument.

Life is for living, we all knoooow.... :D :D

But I really have to admit that the guitar is the biggest part in my life. I hope that won't change in the future.
Rhythms are a riddle for me. I'm able to play them all, but I've never practised them. I'm not kidding, I just don't know it. I've always listened to the songs, and I know that I couldn't play rhythms like "Morning glory" at the beginning, but little by little I've managed to strum rightly. I would very much like to tell you how, but I can't. :?

@all: has anybody of you already read the book "Remix 2" by Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre? I've got it, but I have not started to read it yet.

@Kid A I must admit I envy you for this ability!;-) But,no,I'm not giving up..

I haven't read Remix 2,but I'm enthusiastic about "Soloalbum" by Stuckrad-Barre. :D 8) Does Remix 2 contain short stories or is it just one book?

Unfortunately or fortunately (I'm not sure yet) it contains short stories. I like Soloalbum, too. No, I love it! Have you seen the movie? It's great!

But some news told that Stuckad-Barre is giong to write a one-story book again. :D

I haven't seen the movie yet..but I'm already convinced that it's great.I mean,it can't be bad regarding the music and everything else.

Has anybody seen the new Harry Potter yet? I went to the movies on Saturday..it's pretty cool, way better than the other ones. It's good they have this new director.
You see lots of the scenery around Hogwarts, though it looks a bit strange from time to time.
But unlike I expected it, I loved the performance of Lupin. On pictures he is not as half convincing as in the movie.

You haven't seen Soloalbum yet? :o You know that you have to change that, doesn't you?
Well, when I sat in the movies to watch it, I had to force myself not to scream out loud: the acters wear sometimes Oasis-shirts, you hear "Stop crying your heart out" and some stuff by Paul Weller and in one scene you can see the album "The man who". 8) And so on and so on...
The perfect movie for every BritPop-fan.

I hate Harry Potter movies. Don't misunderstand me, I don't wanna argue, I accept you like them, but I don't. It's just to make money. And- really bad thing- it's a profit for many kids: they don't have to read the books. My little brother watches every HP-movie, but I can't effort (?) him to read one of the books.
Some might say ( :P ) that The lord of the rings is the same thing- no, it isn't. TLOTR has a completely different quality, not to compare with something like Harry Potter.
I don't know what to say, it's just...I can't stand these movies :x .

YES!
Fortunately I was never forced to hear someone say LOTR is just the same as HP--never,never,never!!
J.K. Rowling wrote funny, excited and just good books and the movies are fine as well.(Though you could've made the first ones less lame.) But it's a completely different leven than LotR. Anyone who dares to compare HP with LotR.. Tolkien created a whole universe with a history that could really have happenend. The story is always ..eerr,plausible(?*g* too lazy to look it up) and very complexe. The chacracters develop in a wonderful way,it's like getting to know them better and betterin the course of the story.
LOTR is its own level..unreachable.

My little brother has already seen the film on DVD (don't ask me how he made it to get the film, I was extremely surprised when I noticed that). I did not have the time and the interest to watch it, too, but my little brother was very enthusiastic. My older brother watched a few minutes and was just angry: "It's everytime the same, always the same, always this shitty Harry Potter in trouble, always...I hate it!" etc. That's what I heard for a quarter of an hour :P .

Well, to my mind there are too many people who fancy Harry Potter, because his stories aren't that complexe. Everyone can understand them. And as I said, most of them are too lazy to read such a book like TLOTR.
If they were quiet then, it would be okay for me, but if the talk the whole time about "the stupid Lord of the rings" it makes me sick. Because most of them have no idea what they are saying! :x
You're really lucky when you didn't have to hear these comments.

Hi everyone!

I saw Harry Potter two weeks ago!
I have to say that it is really cool, but a little to scary for children (in my opinion!). Until now I have not seen "Lord of the Rings" , but I like to change it soon! :D

Hi Nureny..and welcome to the board!

Oh,yes,please..watch LOTR as soon as possible. I'm sure you will like them.

Another topic:What do you guys think about stays in a foreign country?
One of my best friends will return from New Zealand next month and had made lots of friends and experiences there. So I think it's good way to experience something, improve the foreign language and so on..but also connected with problems, social and financial ones.
Would you like to take part in an exchange, could you imagine to stay in a host family for one year?
