Hallo,

3.4. State of the Union Address 2006 (about three years after the invasion in Iraq)
The following lines are based on the State of the Union Address 2006 by President George W. Bush.
Three years after the United States and their allies have attacked Iraq, and dispossessed Saddam Hussein, President George W. Bush speaks about three different issues concerning his Iraq policy: The economical development, the fight against terrorism in Iraq, and the military strategic situation. First of all, the United States are supporting the Iraqi economy while fighting against corruption. Thus, the Iraqi economy develops well, so that the Iraqis’ can benefit from the advantages of freedom. Furthermore American Troops train Iraqi forces to combat terrorism together. Despite the terrorists are brutal, they will succeed in that fight. However, it is not possible that the troops withdraw completely, but the growing sovereignty of the Iraqi forces affords that the troop level can be decreased. At the end the president compulsively praises the troops deployed in Iraq.

3.5. State of the Union Address 2007 (after four years of the invasion in Iraq)
The following lines are based on an extract of a transcript of the State of the Union Address 2007 by President George W. Bush.
Four years after the United States and their allies attacked Iraq and dispossessed its dictator Saddam Hussein, President George W. Bush presents a new military strategy due to new escalations in Iraq, for instance blowing up the Golden Mosque of Samarra by Sunni extremists. To control the violence and to achieve the American goals in Iraq, the Iraqi capital Baghdad must be secure. Therefore the United States will deploy 20,000 additional soldiers and Marines to Iraq, since the Iraqi forces are not yet able to face the riots on their own. Additionally, 4,000 Marines will be sent to the Anbar Province to fight terrorists. Furthermore the president claims the Iraqi government to deploy more of their own troops in Baghdad. Avoiding failure in Iraq. This strategy is the best one, since a withdrawal would provoke that extremist take over the Iraqi government, causing a conflict in the entire region. At the end, Bush asks Congress to give his new strategy a chance.
