Hi,
my name ist Birgit and I live in Alpen. That´s a little village in Nordrhein Westfalen.
I try to fresh up my english because I need it for my job and I like this language. My native language is german.
I work in a "Kindergarten"- I think in english it meens : primary school??
More and more "Kindergärten"(primary schools) in germany like to teach english. And I think it is a good idea to do this. Perhaps someone could tell me how they work in english primary schools?-or american? It would be interesting I think.
Or maybe someone like to have e mail contact with me for learning english?
Have a nice day
Birgit

Hi and welcome to the forum.
First:
I always thougt the "alpen" were mountains in southern germany
(I guess you've never heard this joke before, right? )
The "school attendance" in the UK and the USA is a bit more complex and different than in germany, you can find some informations about it in the wiki.

Hi boert,
noooo I never heard this joke before
well now you know there is "Alpen" without any Mountain in an other part of germany
Thank you for the link to wikipedia.....I have read the text. Well I think they want to change many things in germany. Here in Nordrhein Westfalen for example they want to build these "Familiencentren" (familycenter??) Many "Kindergärten" will be closed in 2007 (werden geschlossen).
Don´t know what will happen, but I fresh up my english now...can´t be wrong
We have many turkish people here, but this language is much more difficult to learn And maybe I will find a job in a "Kindergarten" or what ever ...and there I will need english language- I hope so.
kind regards
Birgit
