Hello, I am new in this forum,
I am living in Lower Saxony near Braunschweig and enjoy to speak English. In my job I need to speek English.
This forum is really nice and the website "englisch-hilfen" very helpful if I don't remember the needed vocabulary!
Thanks!

thanks for asking..
my job is a little bit difficult to disturb
I'm an executive staff with a gunsmith and my job is it to answer the questions from foreign clients about hunting- and sporting rifles and pistols, reloading ammunition and things like that. Answering questions about licenses to get guns. I also develop all dealings which were done by internet in Germany and around the world. With short words I "am the girl for everything" in the firm.
Of course I have to assist my colleges in the store and teach the trainees.
@ anna_bub: the best way to learn English is (my private tip) speeking and thinking with yourself in English and write down every private notes in English. The rest will follow from oneself...
for short time I started to read "Harry Potter" in English

I bet!I am the girl for everything
But sounds kind of difficult, all these things in english? WOW!
With the talking thing I do absolutely agree. Talking is the best way.
The private notes are a good idea, too. That's the way I practices writing in "Kurrent".
I went to the cinema on saturday and watched "Brokeback Mountain" with original soundtrack, that's a good training too.
When I talk to myself (it's good to finish a day, to think over it again) I often do that in english. It's very usefull to learn how to describe things, not only to look them up.
Gotta go now. Have fun!

I've to own up to you, I have a friend from Dallas and we wrote emails in English very often. If we're speaking by the phone, we try to speak both languages. And if we meet us, we use a mix in English and German. Most of my foreign clients were not native English speakers and they can not speak better than me.
bye for now

That's good for your ego but not for the communication, I thinkdenni hat geschrieben:Most of my foreign clients were not native English speakers and they can not speak better than me.
But with a friend in Dallas etc. you might be quiet good in english, IMHO (that's just a try to get out of the "ego-thing" )

to watch movies in english to learn the language is really a good thing.
and it is even funnier if some parts are in german.
i'm living in dublin and we went to cinema to watch "munich" (i don't know if u can already see it in germany).
some parts of the film are in german and not everything was translated.
finally the german pupil had to explain what's going on to the irish guys.
it was just great fun.
