Hi Franzi,

Thank you for your compliment :freu:
That's awesome that you attended the NYC-Marathon! My friends mum did the same, I think it was either 1 or 2 years ago. And that's a reason to be proud of! That sounds like you had a great time across the pond
Have you been back to New York since 1989? It's so funny! When you attended the marathon I was only 4 years old. The time goes by too fast :(
May I ask you how old you are?

Hi everybody!
Wow the first few days I followed my entry without any answer! And now a lot of people are talking about NY, the second WW and so on...
Pretty cool!
Back to may idea of a language school, a lot of people say that in a language school my english won´t become much better! What do you think?
For my trip to north america I plan to start at Vancouver. Because of the cheap flights at the moment I think about a return flight from somewhere in the east
of the Continent. Maybe New York, but i guess that the trip from Vancouver to NY will be very long and hard in six, maybe eight weeks of free time.
@kleine: How are the bus connections in north america? Is it realistic to go by bus or maybe by train from the west coast of Canada to the us east coast in a time frame of 6 or 8 weeks?
Cheers,
Winston :chief:

Hi,
I really enjoyed myself while reading the great postings here. :)
@everyone who wants to imrove his/her English:

In my opinion there are several steps to be taken:

- reading comprehension:
That should be the first step. You can read English books and other English texts.
When you think that you're able to understand written English quite well, you can go on.
- writing English:
Look for English penfriends or chat partners you can regularly communicate with.
- listening comprehension:
Watch English films, news or listen to English-speaking people otherwise.
- speaking English:
The last step, you should only take it, if you really feel ready. Look for English-speaking people to talk to via Skype or something like that. You could also take part in exchange programmes or do trips to America, Australia, Britain,... on your own.

Of course you can combine all steps in the end. ^^
Just my suggestion...

@kleine:
I really admire you because you take this challenge.

I know there are some very strange romours about Germany spreading all over the world and it's sometimes quite funny. For example some Russians, I chatted with, thought that there's dirt in Germany everywhere. ^^
