Ich kapiere es einfach nicht

Aufgabe: Fill in the gaps in Jane’s travel blog using the verbs in brackets in the correct tense (simple past, simple present perfect or present perfect continuous).
We (1) have been having a wonderful time since we (2) started walking two days ago. The weather (3) has been fine most of the time. It only (4) rained for a few hours yesterday afternoon. Luckily we (5) bought some good waterproofs before we (6) left home, so we (7) didn’t get very wet. And it (8) stopped before we (9) put up our tent.
-> hier habe ich gar nicht verstanden, warum PPContinious

The scenery is breathtaking! We (10) have walked through forests and along rivers and streams. Carl (11) has taken a lot of photos. This morning we (12) climbed up a small mountain. It (13) was hard work and I (14) could hardly breathe when we (15) got to the top but the view really (16) impressed us! I (17) have never seen anything like it before. We (18) didn’t go straight back down but (19) unpacked our picnic and (20) ate it there, sitting on some rocks. I really (21) enjoyed the peace and quiet.
-> wieso PP - hier hätte ich past genommen.... has taken, weil die Foto's noch existieren? have walked weil?
Talking of food, Carl (22) has been cooking dinner on the camping stove in the evenings!!! Actually, it (23) hasn’t been at all bad considering the difficult conditions. I (24) have been doing the washing-up. I don’t mind. It makes a change from cooking.
-> PP Continious, weil es um die Dauer geht (evengings, actually)?
We (25) haven’t seen any deer yet but yesterday we (26) passed an ancient church. In it Laurie McCloughlin is buried, a famous and brave warrior who (27) fought and (28) died to save the land.
Well, I must stop now. The sun (29) has gone down and I can hardly see anything at all. Carl, poor soul, (30) has developed back-ache, so I have to rub some cream on it before he goes to bed.
More in a couple of days’ time …
Vielleicht kann mir jemand helfen und mir das für Dummis erklären
