Christmas market

Hello together,

today I am at the christmas market with a friend of my. It is my first time, that I visit a christmas market for a longer time. Years ago I crossed it without any attention. It is full and if you are a little bit drunken from glühwine you get a lot of chances to flirt with the girls. I am keen about that, because you get very fast in contact with persons at the market when you buy something to eat. We have a lot of fun. My experience is that the people will visit the christmas market only for eat and drink. The other things, you can buy are not so important for these peoples. The economics will get up or is on his peak the unemployment figure is sinking that's all good news and the peoples are happy that they could buy or afford something for oneself.

Ich war heute schon auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt. Ich habe aber trotzdem mal das simple Present benutzt, ob das richtig ist weiß ich leider nicht, oder hätte ich alles im Present Perfect schreiben müssen?

Eigentlich hast du ja nicht vom Markt, an dem du gerade warst geschrieben, sondern vom ersten Besuch und dann Generelles, wie es auf einem solchen Markt ist.

Also hättest du beginnen können, wie du willst - Z.B.:

I'm currently visiting the Christmas market - Ich besuche (gerade)
Today I'm going to visit the Christmas market - Ich werde besuchen
Today I have visited the Christmas market - Ich habe besucht (bin soeben nach Hause gekommen)
This morning I visited the Christmas market - Ich besuchte

Today I have visited the Christmas market with a friend of mine.
It is quite a long time ago, well, years actually, since I had visited a Christmas market for the last time.
Back then I had crossed it without any attention.

Fact is that Christmas markets are usually full of people and if they are a little bit drunk on mulled wine you get a lot of chances to flirt with the girls.
I am keen on that, because it is easier to get in contact with them when you buy something to eat there. That's great fun!

My experience is that some people visit the Christmas market for one reason only - having something to eat and drink.
The other things you can buy are less important for these people.

The economy is growing, a few might even say is booming because the unemployment figure is decreasing.
These are all good news and therefore people are happy, especially when they can afford to buy something for themselves.

Nur als Info: Meine amerikanischen Freunde nennen das, was es hier in Deutschland auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt gibt, tatsächlich Glühwein.

Well, I have to admit I am not an expert on beverages,
but I saw "Mulled wine" on a sign at the Christmas market here in the UK.

Du hast eine gute Korrektur gemacht. Vielen Dank. Nur beim obigen Satz bin ich nicht ganz einverstanden. Ich glaube, kölscheklüngel besuchte das allererste Mal einen Weihnachtsmarkt - the (very) first time.  
 
Das mit dem "glühwein" klingt komisch - aber ich habe es in meinem Dix. sogar vor "mulled wine", was auch richtig ist.
Genauso komisch finde ich das Wort Kindergarten = kindergarten - hi ok, nebst nursery school.

Das es vor mulled wine steht kann aber nichts mit der gebrauchshäufigkeit zu tun haben, denn mulled wine bekommt man sehr viel häufiger zu hören.

Es gibt ja auch verschiedene Arten von Glühwein, und meine Freunde benutzen das deutsche Wort nur dann, wenn sie wirklich den Glühwein meinen, den es bei uns gibt. Insofern wäre es in diesem Text zwar richtig, aber nicht generell die beste Wahl.

Hi zusammen,

nur um mich auch mal einzumischen, weil thiorthan meinte, seine Freunde verwenden das Wort Gluehwein dann, wenn sie damit auch den meinen, denn man in Deutschland bekommt. Ich habe letzte Woche Nuernberger Christkindles Gluehwein aus Deutschland hier bei Aldi gekauft und dort steht auch "Mulled Wine" auf der Flasche. Muss daher was Amerikanisches sein .

Wahrscheinlich, deshalb hatte ich das eingangs auch extra erwähnt. Meine Freunde in Irland sagen auch mulled wine.

Mich wundert übrigens, dass Glühwein im Wörterbuch steht (in welchem eigentlich?) denn die großen englischsprachigen Referenzwerke kennen es bisher nicht.

Bin ich im Internet und schreibe hier einen Beitrag, so ist der Vorgang "Weihnachtsmarkt" abgeschlossen und ich benutze simple past oder present perfect.
Wofür steht denn das "currently"? Ich könnte doch auch schreiben: I'm visiting... ist das genauso richtig?

Currently bedeutet aktuell. Es ist in diesem Satz nur dazu da um diesen Fakt noch einmal zu betonen.

Ja, "I'm visiting the Christmas market" ist auch richtig - Ich besuche (gerade) den Weihnachtsmarkt. (Ich bin jetzt auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt)
"I'm currently visiting the Christmas market" - Zur Zeit besuche ich (gerade) den Weihnachtsmarkt. (Ich bin jetzt gerade auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt - mit currently wird dies noch betont, wie tiorthan richtig erwähnte.
