Hey everyone out there
Even my time has come.. hahaha
Well how to start...
As you all may have noticed I'm basically from Vienna
I even hope to get my english improved as well, leastwise.. well i might be laughed at haha.. my little story is probably a funny one, because i actually should be expected to speak that language as a mother tongue, even only because my dad is canadian but all the years through i've never been taught english at all haha ^.^
and so I hope to hit the level of a native speaker some day ^_^
However, i've been trying on this really hard and I'm sure this forum will be a huuuge help though!
C you around guyz!
Robert

People might actually expect me to speak this language as a mother tongue because my dad is a Canadian.
But all these years I've never been taught English at all.

I think, it's good to hear that you are not very sad about the lost opportunity to learn English at an early age.

Re: Vienna says hi
Thanks for correcting these few lines!
So obvious.
One of my problems with english are all those prepositions as we've noticed.
Well, i mean compared to german they are just so all over the place.
Nevertheless I'm sure I'll manage this one day.
Yes, on the one hand it's honestly not cool that we've never spoken english at home but on the other one, you know, I've got now the chance to force him to do so
See you round

You may also want to try using short sentences and capital letters more often.panic22 hat geschrieben:Thanks for correcting these few lines!

Hi Robert!
Welcome! I bet it must be hard to learn English at an older age, how come you didn't get the opportunity to start earlier, for example at school?
However, good luck!
Ah yes, and I think I found a mistake of inattention.

I am from Lower Austria, therefore not far from you, in the area of the 23rd district.
Addressed to your age, I agree with you but the older you are the more difficult it will be.

Hello my dear Robert!
I am from Carinthia, we live near Wolfberg.
I think, it is a bity, that you have never asked your father to teach this beautiful language to you. My girlfriend, she emigrated to the United States 25 years ago, has never taught her children the German language. It sounds similar, doesn't it?
Now, take the chance and ask your dad to exercise with you now!
Hope to hear from you

Re: Vienna says hi
Hi Robert!
I´m from Austria too, more exact from Upper Austria
In my opinion it is real pity that your dad never speak english with you at home. But it´s never to late for learning english.
May I ask how old are you and what vocation you learned?
Best wishes
Melanie

So many replies
Oh I was without internet access for a while and so I did not have chances to take a look at "my own topic" actually.
However, to answer some of these questions or statements: it's basically not hard to talk in english to me at all, the only matter is probably the spelling and well as you may have noticed by now I really tend to write or to speak more colloquial which is maybe not this bad. you know, but it is still nice to be able to express oneself in a proper way
By the way, leastwise i do force him to talk in english as he did not my entire life, ^.^
It's surely the best way to improve my skills at that beautiful language, as mentioned, is it not?
And to get back to the statement why my daddy and me have never talked english to each other. It's actually simple and stupid at a time. Give or Take my dad grew up in Austria so which means he does speak german perfectly, without any accent and so on. Maybe he just thought it was easier to converse in german for all "involved parties"
