Beitrag von malcolmx »

In his childhood, Malcolm commit many small thefts to resist against the authoritarian school education and his upbringing in the home. Malcolm was very intelligent, but he was not allowed to study, because he was black. That shocked him very much.
In the black neighborhood in Boston, he commit several burglaries with a friend and his white wife, Sophia.
Because of this, he was caught, but the judge saw " with a white woman" as the main accusation. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. His white wife was sentenced to 5 years, but was released after 7 months on probation. This shows the "unequal treatment" that prevailed in the past.
In prison, Malcolm became acquainted with a black speaker, who encouraged Malcolm to read. By a letter from his brother, Malcolm was announce with the Nation of Islam and he joined to the Nation of Islam. During this time he also changed his name to Malcolm X. This he did, because the opinion of the "Nation of Islam“ was that the surname of the black people were awarded by the slave owners.
The time he was arrested, he spent to educate himselves. He also took many sunbathing darken his skin.

Vielen Dank.

Vielleicht kannst du hier auch nochmal drüber gucken. Damit hatte ich größere Probleme :(

After he was released from prison, he met the leader of the Nation of Islam, Elijah Muhammad. A short time later, Malcolm became the spokesman of Nation of Islam and he won a lot of black supporters. In 1958 he married Betty Jean Sanders, a nurse of the Nation of Islam and with her he got 6 daughters.
Malcolm denounced the racism of the white society and called the white "devils".
That was the time of commencement of the civil rights movement. In addition to Malcolm X, Martin Luther King was one of the most radical critics. King's strategy was, the black integrate with non-violent. This was well received, especially in the average class, as they secure their share of the "American Dream" and wanted to be accepted by the white.
Malcolm received the inhabitants of the slums, where he has lived for some time. They saw no way that white people become liberal.
Malcolm urged the black to defend themselves. He did not see it remain a non-violent, while the Ku Klux Klan massacred their children.

Malcolm received (??) the inhabitants of the slums, where he had lived for some time. They saw no way that white people would become liberal.
Malcolm urged the black to defend themselves. He did not see why to remain a non-violent, while the Ku Klux Klan massacred their children.

Malcolm came out in 1964 from the Nation of Islam, as his role model and mentor Elijah Muhammad had extramarital and that did not match the rules.
He undertook a pilgrimage to Mecca and was impressed by the unity of all people and races. He reflected on his racist attitude toward the whites and was now ready to accept the help of the white people and he joined the sunni branch of Islam.
Through his 4-month journey through Africa, he also covered his image of women as he saw many progressive women.
Malcolm also changed his name to “Malik El-Shabazz“, bechause this is the better name for a muslim.
