Re: What brought you here?
Hello together,
I've found this webside some weeks ago as I searched for passive sentence. One of my reasons to join this forum is to improve my english knowledge. Because, I am palning to moving to the USA in January 2010 and my english is not so good as I left the school 1997.

Do you - as your name indicates - move to Las Vegas then? Why do you want to move to the USA in the first place?

No, I do not want to move to Las Vegas. When I was the first time in the USA, I spend my time in Las Vegas (vacation) and I was fascinated from this city.
My company send me to the USA for our new Workshop as a Workshop manager.
I know, I will have at the first time some problems with the language. But I hope, I can improve my English very fast.

Re: What brought you here?
I am a native english speaker who lives in the United States and figured the best way for me to improve my German was go where they were trying to learn English! I would help people trying to learn English and learn German along the way! Perfect for me!

Re: What brought you here?
Hello Keswick!
I' m very glad to find this website! I was born in Russia, in St' Petersburg. I live in Germany since 24th March 2004. Unfortunately I've forgotten most of what I learned in my home city, because I only speak German.
Now I'd like to learn English, because I find this language beautiful. I'd like to watch film from Woody Allen in English:)
Thank you!

Re: What brought you here?
There are different reasons, why I joined this forum:
After passing the A-levels in 2008 I started a traineeship in a company, where English skills are not important. Only in school (Berufsschule) there is the possibility to speak English. But I am not really sure if I want to work in my current company after the traineeship.
Another reason is that I like to be in contact with people. So I am member of some forums where German is the main language. After searching for an English speaking forum I found this here

Re: What brought you here?
I first joined because I was studying German for year twelve (Abitur). This year I have stopped studying german, but hope to pick it up again next year when I go to uni. So the only access to german I get now is through this forum, and reading german books (which are hard to come by in Australia!)
And it's really cool that I can talk to people from all over the world =]

Re: What brought you here?
Hi Ella85
I'm German and I'm interested in having a native English chat partner (via chat or skype phone calls) to improve my English language skills by receiving corrections of my written texts and spoken english.
(I need English mostly for business but also for small talks (general things you know).
In return I can offer German language skills

Re: What brought you here?
My intention is pretty simple... Wanna improve my English, 'cause my jaw dropped when I noticed how bad my English is!
I have to refresh almost all grades, I think. So I know where I can practice into the net.
But donno where I can talk into English in the "real" world?
There any people around Hamburg who have a little time for talking into English with me? Would love to get an answer in the forum.
Sincerely,
chrissi1980

Re: What brought you here?
HeyHo -that'sa kinf of why to say hello in Germany.
As you can already know, I'm from Germany.
What was it that brought me here was, that I want to train my English. I'm not realy bad but not realy good in English, but I want to get better, that's why everyone is here, I think.
I'm searching for native speakers, who are interested in talking with me and help me to correct my mistakes.
I learn English since 7-8 years, but my English is not the best at all.
I can understand very well but to speak is very difficult for me.- not easy at all.
I'm doing a English course in School once every week. That is the only time I can speak just in English. But that isn't enough for me.
Maby someone is interested in speaking in English with me? maybe a native speaker who can show me my mistakes?
That would be very nice.
English is a realy beatiful language and one, I want to learn how to speak very well!
Cheereo!

Re: What brought you here?
In school English was one of my favourite subjects and I wasn't bad. After my graduation I went to university and didn't need English. Today, 7 years after my graduation in school, I feel like a beginner, when I try to speak about basic topics...and this feels so bad.
Until six months I am learning Spanish too and every book tells me other rules and translations for the same word. I don't know what's wrong or write and I think it's the same in English. I'd like to learn real English (and Spanish) and so I was looking for a forum where real people speak real English. I think the forum is better than a chatroom, where you don't unterstand the most sentences because it's too informal (with all those abbreviations, slang, etc.).
So this was what brought me here...
