"The Troubles"
The term "The Troubles" dominated the Irish history and politics from 1969 to 1998 in Northern Irland. It was a fight about control and identity between two groups of Orish population: British and Irish.
A most important characteristic is the segregation of people because of religious denomination. This disconnection is even seen in geographics: Northern Irland is divided into two parts. As a result the mainly-Protestants Unionist live in the Northern-Eastern territories and the mainly-Catholics Nationalist dominating the West.
The general definitions "Catholic" and "Protestant" are measures of association groups in Northern Irland. On the one hand the long-established people, which seemed to be poor, countrified and catholic and on the other hand the colonize english settlers, which were rich, industrial and protestant.
"The Troubles" had political and military dimensions. Accordingly the conflict gave reason for terrorism and severe violance, both in Irland and Birtain.
Although the group of active involves in the conflict were small "The Troubles" affected almost every life in Northern Irland. Moreover it attacked Great Britain and the Republic Irland casual. Almost fourthousand people, most of them civilian, got killed.
Till this day political and social attitudes are still formed by "The Troubles".
The End

Benutze unbedingt ein Woerterbuch bzw. einen Rechtschreib-Check um kleinere Fehler zu vermeiden, z.B. Birtain.Kimmilein hat geschrieben:"The Troubles"
