Prehistoric ireland
ireland was until about 9,500 years ago ininhabited.
the conjecture is, that the first people were hunter and gatherers.
These farmesrs buildt stone fields walls ,which are called "dolmens or portal tombs". They had been buildt from around 2000 BC.
Some people say the Portal tombs had been uses as grave chamber and as monuments for the deceases-persons.
The entrance stones (also called portal stones) are often the entrance to the proper chamber, they can be about 5 m high and the orientation for the portal tombs is usually ,but not always, towards the east.
The most portal tombs have their precence in the northern half of irland and some are in the east of ireland from dublin down to waterford but the most popular portal tombs are in Carlow, Poulnabrone and County clare...
