Brauche Hilfe für kurzes "abstract"

Ich muss ein kurzes abstract über meine Arbeit schreiben und bin ziemlich schlecht in Englisch. Kann mir hier jemand sagen, ob folgender Text einigermaßen plausibel klingt?:

This study examines german and british troop entertainment in the Second World War. The Second World War as „Total War” demands the combatants in a complete new manner. On the one hand there have been enormous hardships in battle, on the march or during the construction of defences. On the other side there was the distressing waiting between the operations. In this time of boredom the everyday life of the soldiers was impressed by permanent expectation just as the treatment of privation, destruction and the danger of life. These demands on the physical and mental efficiency of the soldiers became a heavy burden for keeping up the morale of the combatants. Troop entertainment was one medium – beside indoctrination, military psychiatry and religious welfare – to take steps against these demands. This study takes a look on three different levels: First on the organisation and intention of troop entertainment in both countries, second on the artists and third on the soldiers and there resonance.
