Hey sorry for answering so late. I didn't realized that there was a second page >.>..

Sounds very interesting!
I'm interested in culture and art, too!
But I have so little leisure time at the moment, so that I spend it at home (..most of time.)

Besides I'm leadsinger in a band called "Beauty is the End". That's my only hobby at the moment. Oh.. and my name is Daniel, yours is Tara right?

Hi Daniel,

yeah we have talked so much, we've already made it to page 2 :D .

No my name is not Tara. I used it in an earlier posting but it is a Northeast way to say "bye", comparable to "Tschuess". Sorry about the confusion. My real name is Mareike.

You're singing in a band? That is cool. What kind of music do you play? My partner is lead guitarist in a band as well. They're looking for a new singer at the moment. However he is considering finding a new guitarist instead so he can sing himself. Well.. whatever you call "sing". They play a mixture of Death metal and Black metal. So it is rather "grunting" than singing, don't you think?

An outsider wouldn't understand. It goes back a long way in history and it can't be pinned down to one event its loads. Generally English people are just arrogant to Scottish people, or to me at least. I don't particularly like English people, i'm one of the Scots who wants independence. You might think of it as similar to French and German or Dutch and German, i'm not really sure on your foreign relations..

Don't get me wrong, but I stick to my opinion that keeping up a hate that has been caused centuries ago, is quite narrow-minded. I mean, I am Franconian, we were stolen by France, given to Bavaria by Napoleon and we lost our independence to Bavaria. We're proud to be Franconians and we're not quite fond of the Bavarians. But we don't hate each other, we get along. And Jme, to say "generally English people are just arrogant to Scottish people" is just not true. Some might be but definitely not all. I have many English and Scottish friends who get along well. I have never met a single person up here who really hated the Scots. Maybe the people in the South are different, but people in the North seem to have enough Scottish blood in their veins to accept and like the Scots. And those who don't, don't like any other foreigners either.

Anyway, I think I said enough here, it's not supposed to become a "English vs. Scots" thread. But one more thing. As long as people hate each other for now obvious reasons, we'll never have some sort of peace on this planet. But if people at a young age (and no offense but you're quite young) who should be a little more open-minded than a 70-year-old could start to like and accept each other, and forget about the past (at the end of the day it is history, isn't it?), we might have a chance.

Some of my friends in school are English, in fact most are. Army school in Germany so most people here are English. They pick on everyone different, the Fijians, Scots, Irish, Welsh even other English people like Geordies and people from down south where they sound like farmers. If you don't speak like a 'normal' English person you won't be completely accepted. People constantly bring up things about Scotland and try to offend me for being Scottish so i think i have reason not to like them. When i said most people are arrogant to Scots i meant in my experience, perhaps i'm just generalising but this is what i've experienced in my life.

"people in the North seem to have enough Scottish blood in their veins to accept and like the Scots"
Not true. This one guy, glen, is actually part Scottish, his grandad i think, hes one of the most racist (not racist, not sure what it would be called about other cultures) people i've ever met towards scottish people, and hes from Newcastle.

Anyway i agree this thread shouldn't be made a dispute between Scots and English people.

So, K.Kain how long have you been in your band for?

Jme, don't get me wrong there, I don't want to sound nasty but how old are those guys you're talking about? They sound like some immature teenagers who pick on everybody because they're bored. They should get a life.
