Englisch Text summary

Hallo,
ich soll eine summary schreiben ich hoffe ihr könnt mir helfen. Erst mal der original Text:

Tina Downham, a former headhunter, has been a full-time mum to Holli, 10, and Daisy, four, for the past six years. And she loves it. "To be in a situation where you can enjoy your children and not pay somebody else to look after them is great," she says. "Looking after children is the biggest job you will ever have. If you put them in nursery you get the worst of them - at the beginning and the end of the day. How do you ever do any bonding?"
But Downham, 37, has seen things from both sides. In her old company she managed a team of 10 people, working full-time while Holli was in nursery as a toddler. She was so stressed and harried that she remembers trailing an ambulance through rush hour traffic to get to work on time. One day she picked her daughter up from nursery at the 6.30pm cut-off time and Holli, then three, said, "Mummy, do I have to be the last one [/list]here?" She realised it was time to quit. "It makes me feel sick when I think about what I had to juggle."
She and husband Clive, a power tools executive, downsized to one salary and moved from Buckinghamshire to a cheaper village. She blames materialism for the fact that few women want to do what she has done. "I don't know why there aren't a few more mums going without a few things - because what you get back is so much more."
But Downham's views are increasingly rare - and she is one of a dying breed. Around seven out of eight mothers now work.
Pippa Menzies, 33, also embodies this new kind of working stay-at-home motherhood. She and her husband Rory, 37, do not have any childcare for Jake, three, Jamie, 16 months and Archie, five months. They look after the children themselves, but they also run Riverdale House, a B&B in Alfriston, East Sussex. She left her career running an MP's office to spend more time with the children. "Politics and family life do not mix. It's impossible - it's a 24-hour job," she says. "Then there's the money element. As soon as you have two children, it's not financially worthwhile and work becomes a luxury.

So und jetzt habe ich die summary, meine eigene Meinung und den jeweiligen Standpunkt der beiden Frauen nochmal geschrieben. Was meint ihr? Gruß Eva

Summary:

The Text „Is this the end of the stay-at-home-mother“, is penned by Viv Groskep and published on the homepage “guardian.co.uk” on Monday May 26 2008. It describes the situation from Pippa Menzies and Tina Downham, and how they answer the question, if its better to be a fulltime mother or if its expedient to follow the social trends and stay at their job, while the children are educated for e.g. in a nursery.
Tina Downham is a full time mother, and she enjoys this situation, because so she can spend a lot time with her children. Downham knows what she talks about, because before she became a “stay at-home” mother, she worked full time, while her child was in a nursery. To bring her child to the nursery, drive to work in the rush hour, and all these ways back at the end of the day, was highly stressful for her.
Therefore Tina and her husband Clive decide to reduce their salaries and move to a cheaper district. Tina thinks that the consumption bearer is responsible for the fact, that women don’t want to give up their jobs.
A lot of mothers, like Pippa Menzies, embodies a new kind of motherhood. Her children are not in a nursery. Pippa left her career running an Minister office, to have more time for her family. Pippa and her husband educate their children by themselves, but they also run a B&B hotel. To have a successful political career and a harmonic family life, is not possible. So Pippa left her job to spend more time with the children.

Own opinion:

In my opinion, mothers develop a different relationship to the children, if they go to work. The mothers can get a deeper bonding to the children, if they stay at home.
Especially the time as a toddle, is very important for mothers and children. In this time the children do things for the first time in their life. But there are also other factors to consider. Sometimes the financial situation doesn’t allow the mothers to stay at home for a couple of years. So in some cases, the families need two salaries. Also maybe some mothers just love their jobs. So to sum up I would say, that the mothers should stay at home for the first time after the child was born. And if its financial, or for the mother social needful, the mother could work after a time in a part-time position to combine both factors. So it’s not a complete end of the “stay at-home-mothers”.

Standpoint of Tina Downham:

Because of Tina Downham stays at home, she hasn’t to pay for a nursery. Also she enjoys to spend a lot of time with their children. Because of this, it’s a great situation for Tina. In her opinion, it is the biggest job to look after children. So the parents can develop a better bonding to the children, Tina thinks.

Standpoint of Pippa Menzies:

Pippa Menzies oppion is, that it is possible to look carefully after the children, and also run the Hotel in Sussex. To gave up her political job, affords her to spend more time with her family. In her old office, she had to work maybe 10 hours a day, so there was no time for a family life. She thinks, that a whole day in the office, and a caring education and family life, doesn’t fit. So Pippa Menzies`s children have most time a 24-hours mom, but the parents working as well.

Summary:

The Text „Is this the end of the stay-at-home-mother“, was penned by Viv Groskep and published on the webpage “guardian.co.uk” on Monday May 26 2008.
It describes the situation of Pippa Menzies and Tina Downham, and their views upon the decision to be either a full time mother or to follow the trend to keep your job, while your children are cared for and educated by someone else e.g. in a nursery.

Tina Downham is a full time mother, and she enjoys her current situation, because this way she can spend a lot time with her children. Before she became a “stay-at-home” mother, she worked full time, while her child was in a nursery. So Downham knows what she is talking about. To bring her child to the nursery she had to drive to work during the rush hour, and all the way back at the end of the day, which was very stressful for both of them.

Therefore Tina and her husband Clive decided to reduce their costs by moving to a cheaper district and to live of Clive's salary. Tina thinks that consumption is regarded as really important and is therefore responsible for the fact, that women don't want to give up their jobs.
A lot of mothers, like Pippa Menzies, embody a new kind of motherhood. Her children are not growing up in a nursery. Pippa left her career running an office for a Member of Parliament, to have more time for her family. Pippa and her husband raising their children themselves, but they are also running a B&B hotel. But to have a successful political career and a harmonic family life, is not possible. So Pippa left her job to spend more time with their children.

My opinion:

In my opinion, mothers develop a different kind of relationship to their children, if they continue to go to work. Mothers can develop a deeper bond with their children, if they stay at home.
The child's time as a toddler is of special importance for the relationship of mothers and children. During this time the children try to do a lot of things for the first time in their life. Unfortunately the circumstances need to be to considered as well. Sometimes the financial situation of the family doesn’t allow it that the mother stays at home for a couple of years. Because in some cases the family actually needs two salaries. And sometimes the mother just loves her job. To sum things up I would suggest, that the mother stays at home for at least some time after the child was born. And if the financial situation requires another salary, the mother could start working part-time later on. This way it’s not a complete end of the time as “stay at-home-mother”.

Standpoint of Tina Downham:

Tina Downham doesn’t need to pay for a nursery, because she stays at home. She enjoys also to spend a lot of time with their children. Therefore, it’s a great situation for Tina. In her opinion, looking after your children is the biggest job a mother will ever have. And the parents can form a closer bond to their child, Tina thinks.

Standpoint of Pippa Menzies:

In Pippa Menzies opinion it is possible to look carefully after the children, and also run a B&B Hotel in Sussex. She gave up her political job, in effort to spend more time with her family. During her old office job, she had to work long hours, so there was not much time for a family life. She thinks, that working a whole day at the office, and caring for her family, doesn’t fit. So Pippa Menzies's children can spend less time with her than other kids with a stay-at-home mum, but more compared with parents who are working full time.
