Why are we so addicted to cars?

Upsides:

To drive a car give us independece and flexible. We have not to wait long for example at the busstation. Every time we can easier and faster rich our destination, office or shopping-centre.
We brought then not to carry our heavy bags with purchases. Above all for business mums is it not to imagine to be without a car. Because such have to do a lot of things of their way to work, to bring their children to day-care cetre and maybe still to do some purchases. With public means of transport is it not to do.
Another reason to have a car is that in some small villages there are not any public means of trasport.
The business peole are also not to forget, they are far the most car-addicted, because for them all that counts is once sentence "time is money..".

Those are the big upsides, but there are huge downsides, too.
For reason that more and more people like the freedom to drive, there are more an more cars on the roads which cause long tailbacks at rush-hour, the gridlocks become more frequent and urban journey times grow. But this are not once problems of car-driving, there is also environmetal damage: cars consume declining fossil fuel resources and cause pollution.

Solution:

In the Past for example in America the people were encouraging to use the public means of transport or to share car journeys to work. But even despite the offers of tax cuts and free travel passes the figure of commuters usind public means of transport is falling more and more.

Britain for example, has tried to force the people to stop driving this though high carbon tax. But they still keep driving.
So there are needed new answers to the problems.

To drive a car gives us independence and flexibility. For example, we do not have to wait long at the bus station. Every time we can reach our destination easier and faster. Then we do not need to carry our heavy bags after our purchases. Above all for business mums it is unimaginable to be without a car. Because they have to do a lot of things on their way to work such as bringing their children to the daycare centre and perhaps make other purchases. This is not possible with public transportation. Another reason to have a car is that is some small villages there are not any means of public transportation. Not to forget the business people who are by far the most car addicted because for them all that counts is one sentence "time is money."

Those are the big upsides, but there are huge downsides too. One reason is since more and more people like the freedom to drive, there are more and more cars on teh road whcih causes heavy traffic during rush hour. The gridlocks become more frequent and urban travel times increase. But this is not the only problem of car driving. There are also environmental damages. Cars consume declining fossil fuel resources and cause pollution.

Viel Glück zur Prüfung!
