Ich muss einen Text über meine Meinung zum American dream bzw. nightmare schreiben.
Mir fällt nichts mehr ein, aber so ganz gefällt mir das Ergebnis auch noch nicht.
American dream or American nightmare?
If we are talking about the American dream on the one hand, we also have to take a look at the American nightmare on the other hand.
The American dream means that everyone can reach his aims and can live a life in prosperity if he works hard enough for this. This is possible because every person has the freedom to make the best with his life.
But we have to take a strict look at the real possibilities of the citizens because there are still conflicts and discrimination due to religion and provenance (habe ich nachgeschaut heißt das herkunft?)
For example is the chance of a poor black man from a slum to get a better job and to earn money to live a life in prosperty smaller than for a white man from an affluent family. (ist das irgendwie ein doofes beispiel?)
The social aid for poor people is less and so the gap between rich and poor becomes bigger from day to day.
It's hard for people to break the vicious circle to escape the life in the slums and to get a chance for a better life. Instead there is much drug abuse and violence.
There is a high crime rate under the people also under the youth. But it's still legal to buy weapon.
The people are also scared by the american news because they tend to exaggeration. This can provoke panic under the people sometimes.
An other big topic to talk about is the american politic and his aims.
In my opinion it's questionable to have a president who seems to let fight just for his own goodwill. People die and land is destroyed just because of money and oil.
This can't be the way to freedom and peace among the races.
The "sunny sides" of the fame in the showbiz and the story to become from a dishwasher to a millionaire are rarely happening. The possibility to have this luck is very small. But also if it happens there are a lot of shady sides in the glamorous life of successful people. The publicity is always after you and because of this you have to defend your private life.
There are less positive things to believe in the american dream.
In my opinion the american dream isn't still a dream anymore. He is transforming into a nightmare.
