hey guys!

(first i have to say my english is not very well....so...ignore or correct :) )

i am 28 and i have always listened to hip hip mainly. but i also have to say not not every rapper makes/made real hip hop.
in my opinion are these guys the best and most authentic rappers ever:

wu-tang
especially method man (oh..i love him)
redman
tupac (of course)
Ice cube
Ice T
bone thugz n harmony
LL cool J (but in the former time he was much better)
and i dont have to mention grandmaster cuz everyone knows that hes the greatest...

maybe i have forgotten some good rappers - just remember me :P

yeah... hip hop is a big passion of mine but not the the only.
i also love breakdance (some real oldschool stuff)
and raggae (bob is a king.) and some soul music with lauryn hill makes you feel fine, right? :wink1:

It's pretty hard to actually find Hip-Hop material with non-rubbish content I think.

Artists I like to listen to are:
- Nas
- Everlast
- Anthony Hamilton
- FlipSyde
- Fort Minor
- Fugees
- Eminem (he does have some decent songs)

Can you guys suggest some more Artists whose style is comparable to those I listed? (Is it simple past or present perfect in this case?)

Friends of mine sometimes give me curious looks, because I listen to almost every music genre. :)

Hello everybody ;)

I like hiphop, too. I do not really want to confine myself to a certain musical direction, but I would say that hiphop is my favourite one. Well, this is an english community, but being honest I have to say that I prefer german rap. Outwardly, it is a really stupid way of making music, but in reality with rap you can predicate more than in a pop song or something like this. If you guys do not believe me, I advise you to listen to the song "Curse - Wenn ich die Welt aus dir erschaffen könnte". Lyrically perfect!

Hello, i'm a big hip-hop fan, too. I mostly like german rap but not those aggressive songs. I love intelligent rap lyrics of kollegah. I dislike Bushido, Sido and all the other ,,commercial'' artists, because they do not tell the truth in thier texts. kollegah is for me some kind of comedian.

Oh hey there! I really like hip hop, too!
But at the moment, there are no good songs out, aren't there?
Are there any recommendations?

Maybe I could recommend some nice tracks to you but before that, it would be helpful if you tell me which kind of hip hop you prefer.

I don't like hh because of the gangsterstuff and so on, the only one I liked was eminem singing mockingbird and mosh and so on.

Well it depends on the kind of hiphop, doesn't it? Or do they all follow the gangster image? I am not into hiphop to be honest, most of it is doing my head in.. no offense!

To be honest, by far not all "hoppers" want to be gangsters but there are enough people illing each other for example a freind and d-12 rapper got shot and died and his daughter got dissed by "Ja Rule"......
IMAGINE: a little girl dissed by a rich rapper......to my mind he should have been brought to court for that one...

That's indeed a very bad example of a rapper or hiphopper.. having said that.. are rappers and hiphoppers the same?

No, hip hop is more like snoop dog, rap is more like 50 Cent and so on...but sometimes it is difficult to say who is what and why, artists use both styles sometimes..

I contradict this statement, because in my point of view it is completely wrong. There is no difference between them, rap music is rather a part of hiphop. Hiphop is a culture and includes four main activities which are DJ'ing, break dance, graffiti and rap music.

So what is wrong about my statement, I pointed out 2 artists and Snoop Dog even said he is more Hio-Hop himself....like I said I am not a pro but still your post doesn't contradict my words because both make clear that Hip Hop is not the same like Rap, Hip Hop is - like you said- 4 things or styles while rap is just rap.....I hope I made it clear^^ :chief:

Maybe Snoop Dog as a person is more hiphop, because he is interested in break dance, DJ'ing and so on, too. But you can not say that his music is rather hiphop than 50 Cents. That is why I have contradicted your statement. Well, it is like we have already stated, hiphop is not a musical direction!

ooh I am sorry, I did not read that statement of anybody like you but I also did not have the time for reading the whole thread....
Well I believe that If music can consist of Rap or Djing or anything else alone it also can have all 4 parts of hip hop in it -what would make hip hop a direction- at least of an artist (not 1 song)

That is a question of definition and I don't need to define that, also I don't like people defining things 'till the edge, if snoop says he is that, it is his direction.........I won't discuss this anymore
