Bitte um Korrektur

Beitrag von miela »

Wäre toll, wenn hier noch mal jemand korrigieren könnte. Die Wörter musste man in einem Suchbild finden.
1. Now find five verbs and write a sentence with each in the past tense. (Finden Sie jetzt fünf Verben und schreiben Sie mit jedem einen Satz in der Vergangenheit.)
words I found
• Regret
• Borrow
• Save
• Afford
• choose

a) I regreted what i have done
b) i didn't have a drilling machine. So i borrowed one from my neighbor
c) I made a presentation and saved it on my computer.
d) i saw a nice dress but I can't afforded new clothes
e) I hope I choosed the right present

2. Now find five adjectives and write a definition for each.
words I found
  • Slight
  • Peaceful
  • Proud
  • Unfair
  • Embarrassing
  • Slight:  If you make a mistake which isn´t a big fail. It means you made a slight mistake
  • Peaceful: If everything is alright and everybody feel well. Then the mood is peaceful
  • Proud: If you pass the test and you feel very well than you have the feeling which called proud
  • Unfair: If you do all the work but your colleague gets the praise. That's unfair
  • Embarrassing: If you jumped in a pool and lost your pants. That is very embarrassing

Hi miela,
I'd like to correct some mistakes from the previous answer:
I regretted what I had done.
I saw a nice dress, but was not able to afford it.

If you jumped into a pool and lost your pants.

It's nice to see people trying their hands at corrections.

While your suggestion is correct the present simple can be used to express general truths, so Keswick's solution works quite nicely too.
If you jumped into a pool and lost your pants.
Also not wrong but "to jump in a pool" is actually used more widely.
You're never too old to learn something stupid.
MistakeSuggestionYou sure that's right?

The mistake in the original sentence that was overlooked in Keswick's correction is that "can't afforded" is grammatically incorrect. When the sentence includes a model verb like can, the model verb is conjugated and the main verb is an infinitive, so the simple past of "can't afford" is "couldn't afford".

The sentence if can is used would have to be either "I saw a nice dress, but I can't afford new clothes (= and I still can't)," or "I saw a nice dress, but I couldn't afford new clothes (= I couldn't afford any at that time. I may or may not be able to now)."
