Hi All,
I have a question in using pronouns:
"Andy brought Allan a toy and he was happy to see him smile. "
Is the above sentence correct?
In the subordinate sentence, should we use pronouns to describe the object or subject in the main sentence?
Thanks

Yes, it's OK.

I can't find a subordinate clause. You have two main clauses connected by the "and". This helps to identify who is referred to by "he" (= Andy) and by "him" (= Allan). Without the first main clause (= context information), we would wonder who was meant. But the pronouns can be used in the second main clause.
