what is the meaning of "denkscharf"

Wondering what "denkscharf" means, as in "denkscharfen Soziologen." I do not find denkscharf in any dictionaries. Does it mean "sharp-witted" ?  Thank you for any assistance.

Close, but its just a compound meaning sharply thinking. None of the other connotations of sharp-witted are present there.
