Belong together or fit together

Beitrag von Luxdux »

Hey guys,
could you please explain me the expression to use in the following issue:
If I want to explain that a person could find a job, which is "her desire"; do I say that "she and her job belong together" or
"she and her job fit together"?

Hello,

I wouldn't say either. If you really want to use one or the other expression, then I'd probably say: this job is the perfect fit for her, but then again I'd suggest to rephrase it completely.

I agree with Keswick...

You could also say :

“This is an ideal job for her.”

But this indicates that she, or you, have already found the ‘ideal’ job..., which is not the case because you say; she “could” find a job and that it’s “her desire” to find a job..., meaning that the job is still an unknown entity.

As such, how about:
Ø There are many ideal jobs out there for her.
Ø Or..., there are many jobs out there that would ideally fit her desires and qualifications.
Ø Etc.

Kind Regards..., Iain.
