Yes!

That's Edgar Allan Poe, isn't it?

Re: Guess the quote
Yay! \^o^/ Okay, let's try another classic:
"If a thing is right, it can be done, and if it is wrong, it can be done without; and a good man will find a way."

Re: Guess the quote
No? It's a line from a novel written by an English woman, one of the best-selling books of all time and one that has been a personal favorite of mine since I was very young. c:

Re: Guess the quote
Afraid not. It is an old book, and the author has been gone for a long time.

Re: Guess the quote
I don't think it's an Austen novel. When I read that line my mental image was of cabdrivers talking to each other in a book about horses, but I can't remember much more about it at the moment.

Re: Guess the quote
Sorry, had to google it... It's by Anna Sewell in "Black Beauty". Never read it, I'm afraid. Didn't even watch the TV series although I used to be crazy about horses at the time...

Re: Guess the quote
Aww, come on, if you haven't read it, you're missing out on some great classic literature!
Okay, who wants to go next? Duckduck got it right with help from Google, and tiorthan came up with the right context but not the title of the book. So, I guess both of you partially won this round.

Re: Guess the quote
Would anyone mind if I go again, since there haven't been any other volunteers this time? Maybe we will do better with this one than we did with the last. Small hint: this quote was said by a politician.
"The wise know their weakness too well to assume infallibility; and he who knows most, knows best how little he knows."

Re: Guess the quote
Okay, I'll give you another hint. The man who said this was a well-known American president, although perhaps he is most famous for something he did many years before becoming president.

Re: Guess the quote
No ideas? Really? All right, well, this last hint will probably give it away if anyone knows a bit about American history. The man is famous for being the primary writer of a very important document during the days of the American Revolution.

That last hint sounds like Thomas Jefferson
