in meinem Schweisserforum gibt es u.a. ein Forum für Nachwuchsschweisser.

Wäre die englishe Übersetzung für "Jugend schweißt" - " Youth welds" , oder muß es "Youth weld" heißen? (...oder ganz anders)

Wenn verstand ich dies richtig, sollte es nicht "Youth Welds" sein, sondern "Young Welders". Welders that are of a young age. Nee? "Welds" bedeutet nichts (Unsinn) auf Englisch (zumindest in der Vereinigten Staaten).

Elsa asked for a translation of "Jugend schweisst" in the sense of the action of welding. She wasn't looking for a translation of "Jugendliche Schweisser" which would be "Youth Welders" . Youth Welds does sound a bit dodgy, I think a possible translation could have been Youth is welding. I ma not sure about the US, but in UK "to weld" resp. "to solder" makes perfect sense.

Oh, to carry that sense I would have said "Youths Welding". I would choose Youths (plural) because it is more general, there very well could be more than one, and it rules out the possibility of it being taken as an adjective (young is also an adjective). The -ing verb infinitive form is less ambiguous in a "shortened" message like that since an -s ending could also be a pluralization of a noun (which I mistook it for). The reading "Youths Welding" is a clearer rendering. Just my opinion.
