Learning exchange / improve language skills

Beitrag von nrash »

Good evening,

apparently like many others I would like to improve my skills in English writing and speaking (for now I would like to focus on correct (or to be more precisely, more correct ) written English). But this is very hard without having someone who corrects your mistakes downright. At work I communicate in English very often, but these communication partners of course ignore my weak English politely. Beside of that, these communications are very technical (I am an IT specialist) and can't be compared to let's say smalltalk.

I think I have two main problems with english: a undersized vocabulary and uncertain grammar (plus not being sure which expression to use best very often - for example I am not sure if "uncertain" or "downright" (used in last few sentence) do really express what i meant to say.

So it would be great to have someone who helps me improving my English with correcting texts written in English by me or just chatting with me. In return I could help with learning german, where my skills are much better (I am very good at german grammar). I don't care if you are a native speaker or a talented one :).

Best regards
nrash

"apparently" -wrong word choice, there are several possible words that would work better there, depending on what you had intended.

Hello nrash!

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will find exactly the kind of help you're looking for here!
I'm a learner of the German language myself. Feel free to correct me as well.
I'm no grammar expert, at this point I know more about German grammar than english, ;) but I'm a literature buff, so in general you can trust my text corrections. For more technical grammar questions there will be people on this forum to assist you.

Welcome, and I hope you find the forum useful! :)
Korrekturen meiner deutschen Texte sind willkommen.
