Verb it up!? - no homework

Beitrag von ibri »

If a new product comes on the market, people will talk about "starting up". But as Microsoft introduced the new search engine "Bing" the CEO said it will "verb up". Well, what does it mean? The CEO thought about this word in terms of using the engine's name as a verb as "to google". However, it is rare for a product to become a verb. It is much more likely that they become a noun - like "Aspirin" or "Thermos". The biggest problem for "Bing" is that "googling" already exists. I believe, it will take some time until Bing will "verb up".
While some companies invest lots of money to turn their name into a common word, others try as just as hard to prevent this.

I would like you to correct my mistakes, please! :) It is no homework.
