Need help understanding a specific line in a songtext

Hello guys !


I would be very happy if you could help me understanding one specific sentence of a song. It is from the irish folk song "Bold Jamie".

The verse is:

Now home she was taken to her room she is bound
While poor Jamie lies on the cold stoney ground
And he knows all the while before the judge he will stand <<
For the stealing of nothing but his own true love's hand


I have no idea how to understand the marked line. The construction of the sentence is bloody strange.
Does it mean "Even before he stands in front of the judge he already knows why he was send to prison" or "Whatever the judge may say. He knows the real reason for his imprisonment"

I guess there are several other ways to understand this line?
What do you guys think?

eigentlich ist die Zeile gar nicht so kompliziert, sie weist nur die in Volksliedern/Balladen häufige Inversion auf. Die "richtige" Reihenfolge wäre einfach:
And all the time he knows that he will stand before the judge. Denn finde mal einen Reim auf "judge", wenn's nicht gerade um Bonbons gehen soll...

And he knows all the while before the judge he will stand dass man ihn vor "Gericht" stellen wird
dies ist natürlich nur im übertragenen Sinne richtig, denn er hat ja gar nicht wirklich gestohlen, sondern eben nur die Hand seiner Geliebten.
For the stealing of nothing but his own true love's hand

Ahh .... so macht das ganze natürlich Sinn.

Dieses "all the while" hat mich irritiert. Bin irgendwie nicht auf die Idee gekommen, dass das quasi das selbe bedeutet wie "all the time"
