Bitte hier beachten, dass im Englischen das Present Perfect stehen muss, wenn eine Verbindung zwischen der Gegenwart und der Vergangenheit ausgedrückt werden soll. Die Handlung hat im Januar begonnen und dauert jetzt noch an -> Present Perfect.
"plenty of" ist nicht ganz synonym zu "a lot of", weil es nicht wie das letztere einfach "ganz viel, eine große Menge", sondern "ausreichend viel oder eher noch etwas mehr" bedeutet. Ich denke, in diesem Kontext ist "a lot of" passender, oder?
