Wie bildet man das Past Progressive?

Das Past Progressive (oder Past Continuous) wird gebildet aus der Past Form von to be (was oder were) dem Infinitiv (der Stammform) des Verbes und der Endung –ing.

to be (was oder were) + Infinitiv + -ing

1. Bejahte Sätze im Past Progressive

  • I was playing football.
  • You were playing football.
  • He was playing football.
  • She was playing football.
  • It was playing football.
  • We were playing football.
  • You were playing football.
  • They were playing football.

Merksatz: Verwende was bei I, he, she, it – und were bei allen anderen Pronomen.

2. Verneinte Sätze im Past Progressive

Bei der Verneinung im Past Progressive wird not einfach hinter das Hilfsverb (was oder were) gesetzt.

  • I was not playing football.
  • You were not playing football.
  • He was not playing football.
  • She was not playing football.
  • It was not playing football.
  • We were not playing football.
  • You were not playing football.
  • They were not playing football.
