What are your favorite English words?
Mine are "thunderstorm" and "furthermore"
What can I say...I guess I'm a fan of "th" and "r" sounds.
So, what are yours?
(If you want, feel free to use them in a sentence too.)

I'm a native speaker of German. So I like the words which are the same in English and German.
Internet, e-mail, team, bank, €, etc. ...
Furthermore, I like the short words with one or only a few characters.

Re: What are your favorite English words?
I like the more archaic words like thither, yon, withal. Words you don't normally find in every-day conversations.

Seconded! And I particularly love seafaring language which I think fits this category, even if some of it still finds limited use today. Words like "aft", "avast", "boom" (not the sound ), "jib", or even commands with regular words which you don't hear anywhere else like "ready about".

Re: What are your favorite English words?
My favorit english words are who and why but not where.
Because when I was married a long time ago and came home, my wife
kept asking "Where have you been?" so you certainly understand why I don't like the word where. By the way.
Who is Alan Rickman ? Did I miss something ?

Re: What are your favorite English words?
Alan Rickman is a superb British actor with a wonderful voice.
And to be honest, I couldn't say that I have any favourite English words - I like them all! Great language!
Although I must admit that I prefer them pronounced English-style. Well, just a matter of taste, isn't it?
No offence!

Hello guys,
my favourite English word is "circumstance". I cannot explain it to you but this word sounds wonderful.
But I also agree with Delfino.
best wishes,
Alex

Hello everyone...
my favorite English word is badonkadonk.
And I don't like the word because of its meaning but because it sounds cool.
All the best,
snarly!

Yes, Duckduck! That's just matter of taste. I like Irish accent... To be more exact I prefer Irish accent from southern and middle Ireland.
I've never thought about my favourite English words. I like this language and it's so nice to speak it.

Re: What are your favorite English words?
I like Englisch words which make me laugh when I hear them for the first time. Haberdashery is one of them.
But the German translation "Kurzwaren" made me laugh, too. What a German word! Does it mean "sewing kit" only or does it also stand for other little (short?) things? Such as: - oh, now I have no idea of other little things - it's early in the morning, you now, and I haven't had my coffee yet.
Have a nice day!
