Sonett

Beitrag von Mollie »

Hallo,
ich habe ein Shakespeare Sonett geschrieben. Lest es euch durch und schreibt mal was ihr darüber denkt.Danke.

I never saw such loveliness like her.
A smile more beauty than the sun rising.
Nothing is gripping than the eyes of her.
A voice so softly as the birds in spring.
Regrettably she is so far away,
Like the shiny stars at a summers night.
This love is not just some words of one day,
It is more, like to be blinded by light.
But there is just one single doubt remain.
The unkown mind of her to this true love.
And why I see no clear sign in the rain.
The setting seem to be sad from above.
But I see the destiny is coming,
The truth only future will be bring.

Fairly good, as my English teacher - she is a native speaker, by the way - would put it

However, she would, as I will do, have pointed out that there is a little mistake in your masterpiece. Yes, the devil is into detail. I do not know whether it was intended or not, but for some fixed expressions where it does not matter to use so initially instead of as, it is standard to write as...as. Only in archaic English, so...as appeared quite often. Nowadays, it almost exclusively appears in negative sentences and is becoming less and less used there, though.

Some examples to illiustrate this point:

He loves Sheila as much as only a man of his stamp can do.

So far as I am informed/As far as I am informed, cable TV was introduced, in the 1980s, to West Germany first before East Germany became connected in the early 1990s, too.

I am glad to have never had to face so many problems as Boris in his childhood.

I am glad to have never had to face as many problems as Boris in his childhood.

I will be glad if the examples above are helpful for you. Nevertheless, well done, the sonett sounds much as Shakespeare would have composed it :big_thumb:
